Cold

January is cold.  The job market is cold and my outlook isn't much warmer.

I keep trying to imagine what it would (or will) be like to lose my house.   It's a possibility.

The first thing I try to imagine is where would I go?    If you don't have a job and can't make the mortgage, how do you pay for an apartment?    And frankly my mortgage is about the same as an apartment's rent.   Soooo.....  hmmm.  The solution......the idea...... It's not sinking in.

And then there's the problem of stuff.   Where does all the stuff go and how does it get there?

A storage warehouse?   hmmmm   payment again.

And the stuff.   All the years of stuff.   The furniture, the knick knacks, the kids stuff, the stuff in the attic, the stuff in the garage, the stuff, stuff, stuff, STUFF.

A garage sale.   Sell the stuff.

It's January.  Who goes to garage sales in January.   Everybody's broke anyway.

I need to crash and burn in the summer.

I hear the stories.  Jingle mail.   You take the small bit of stuff you can't live without and then you mail the keys to your home to the lender and just walk away.   I know two people in the neighborhood here have done that.

They just left their stuff.
